The Long or the Short of It

We have all been so busy lately – either “working on work,” or working to keep the pipeline full! I am right there with you!

As a result of my busy life, I have not had time to upload a blog post since December 26.

It has not been due to lack of ideas – I keep a notebook with blog content ideas and notes listed. The list is growing.

I’ve always enjoyed the process of blogging. And to me, a post was not complete without at least a photo, video link, or links to other sites. Just my personal preference, for my own blog.

And of course, there is the editing. It took me longer to edit a post than it did to write it in the first place! Plus, my wife has edited every blog post (with the exception of maybe three posts), and provided me with her constructive advice and edits.

And so, for many days I would put “blog post” on my to-do list. At the end of the day, “blog post” was added to the next day, and so on…

It almost reminds me of the person who talks about ridding himself of the habit of procrastination. Of course, when will he tackle it? TOMORROW!

I cannot wait for tomorrow to come. I will not wait for the perfect time to put together some sort of post that is on my mind.

I will not let perfection get in the way of acting.

At the same time, I will not fill up your inbox whenever I have some sort of thought.

Some of my blog posts will not have photos, video links, or links to other sites. I will not let that take away from my experience in producing a post.

The posts I truly enjoy will come, as time permits – but they will come! In the meantime, I will post some shorter posts, because they are valuable to me as well.

If there is one takeaway from this very simple, candid and unedited post, it is this:

If you are not blogging already, you need to start.

I tell my clients that their business needs to have a blog – regardless of the business they are in. Most business owners listen, while some do not.

Just as importantly, each person needs to have a blog – for two simple reasons:

1. You have something to share, that someone else will need to hear.
2. Blogging will provide more clarity in your personal life – trust me!

So with that being said, I hope you will consider blogging, if you are not doing so already.

If blogging is a part of your personal existence, keep it up! People are reading your blog and benefitting – along with yourself!

I apologize in advance, if this post is a little more sloppy than usual.

Before all is said and done, this post will have taken just a few minutes to write, with absolutely no editing.

I will feel better, for having posted it, and hope you will have enjoyed it, or have been inspired to not let perfection get in the way of starting your blog.
